Persian is written from right to left. So آ is the first letter.
The 32 Persian letters above can be thought of as the capital letters.

It's not quite so simple in فارسی. Some letters do not have a lowercase form:

Three حروف have four forms:

The rest of the letters have two forms:
آ ا, بب, پپ, تت, ثث, جج, چچ, حح, خخ, سس, شش, صص, ضض, فف, قق, کک, گگ, لل, مم, نن, یی
In english we capitalize the first letter of each sentence.
In persian we capitalize the last letter of each word, unless it ends with ا.
آ is the only capital letter that comes at the beginning of a word, as in: آب
and is the only lowercase letter that comes at the end of a word: بابا
